Psychological Kintypes
Many of our members who have been around since childhood have theriotypes we consider psychological, which we believe developed due to trauma, dissociation, and using animals (learning about them and pretending to be them) as a coping mechanism. Similarly, we have always felt connected to robots and aliens, likely due to being autistic, and as we grew up and developed our own identities we believe that connection became an intrinsic part of some of our members’ identities.
Past Lives
We believe we have experienced past lives, and some of them continue to affect our identity, whether as kintypes or kardiatypes depending on the system member. It’s a sense of “we were that thing”. For example, we feel we had a past life as some kind of dromaeosaur, of which we have vague noemata.
Extranthropes
We have several system members who formed as nonhuman beings and don’t consider themselves to be otherkin, though some of them have ‘types other than their physical species. One of our members, Rooster, is a dragon extranthrope, and is also machinekin.
Members Formed With Kintypes
Similar to the above, some of our members formed with kintypes; for whatever reason something nonhuman became part of their identity when they formed, but they identify as otherkin rather than extranthropes.
Hearttypes - “Should Be”
Some of our hearttypes are things we do not identify as, but feel we should have been. A few of our members consider themselves vampirehearted in the sense that they are not vampires, but feel they should be.
Hearttypes - Deep Connection
Some of our hearttypes are animals, beings, or concepts we feel a deep connection to. Some of these hearttypes are influenced by having system members who are that thing. This is the case with our collective deer hearttype. We have always felt an unusually strong connection to deer in general, but we also have members who are deer therians - deer feel like family.
Hearttypes - Former Fictionflicker
One of our members, Oleander, experienced a fictionflicker of a specific fictional character while we were consuming that media and for a time afterwards. He no longer identifies as that character, but still feels it has influenced his identity and now considers it a hearttype.
Introjects
We have a few members who are introjects of nonhumans or part humans and thus, now finding themself in a human body, identify as otherkin. We also have a member who is an introject of Supernatural (the show and world itself, not a specific character) and considers Supernatural his patriatype.
Kintypes with Unknown Sources
Finally, some of us aren’t sure where our kintypes came from. Some may be spiritual identities that we haven’t figured out yet. Others don’t really care why they have an identity, they just are. This is the case with our collective space kintype - it's something we just know.
